We often think in absolutes. Life is this way. Life is that way. Although it limits our perspective, there’s comfort in forcing closure. Ambiguity is the mind’s labyrinth where each possibility and question can create even more trains of thought to explore. Some fuel our creative sides while others can add extra (occasionally warranted) stress and anxiety.

How we handle this uncertainty is the true test of mental stamina, because the act of trying to assess a situation and accurately preparing for the most probable outcomes and pitfalls is tied to the amount of brain power that each of us possesses.

This means that we only have so much energy that we can invest in any given scenario. It becomes invaluable to know when to accept ambiguity and when to cut your losses in trying to understand some of life’s mysteries.
